Model: SL259
Chausson's lovely Poéme for Violin and Orchestra, a lush late-nineteenth-century symphonic poem for violin and orchestra, and Schubert's Rondo in A major, another single concerted movement but from the first part of that century, make perfect companion pieces. Filled with luscious 19th-century themes but given the very different treatments typical of each composer and also of their very different musical eras. Both are marvelous concert-pieces.
The sheet music comes with CD recordings of the work, one version with the solo part and accompaniment, and one with just the accompaniment for you to play along to. Geoffrey Applegate is the violin soloist with the Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra conducted by Emil Kahn.
Sheet music and CD.
