Probably the first book to describe the development of the bow, this is a gem because of the author's personal accounts of outstanding makers of the day. Alfred Tubbs appears to have assisted Saint-George, and he writes of James Tubbs in the present tense. A starting point for the study of the bow, giving the background to research undertaken in recent times. First published in 1895.
